I went with Lori and two friends from Peace Corps. We stayed for a week, over New Year's. Some of the famous sites we saw include: the Astronomical clock, a church that is decorated inside with real human bones, the Prague castle, and the John Lennon Peace wall.

EARL AND I ON OUR 75TH BIRTHDAY...FIRST ONE CELEBRATED TOGETHER SINCE WE WERE TEENIE-BOPPERS

EARL & FAMILY:  ALICE, BETH, SHIRLEY, EARL & LYNN AT OUR BIRTHDAY PARTY (MINE, EARL, SHIRLEY AND A GRANDSON)

EARL...SAT UP LATE THE FIRST NIGHT AND WENT DOWN MEMORY LANE!

VISITED THE PAUL GETTY MUSEUM OF ART...WE WERE THERE FOR ABOUT 3 HOURS, AND SAW ONLY 1/8TH, IT SO HUGE. HERE WE ARE WAITING FOR THE TRAM TO TAKE US UP THE HILL TO THE MUSEUM

Stayed at Janet & Curt Frame's, friends of Cookies...janet took us up the coast to see the sights.  This is moonrock bay, where you can find the moonrock, a special translucent looking stone...lots of rockhounds there.

by the sacred rock where only the indians can climb it if they want...water was super-dangerous  with it's tides...the water was splashing right over the breakwall and you could actually see the strong wild and whirling currents.

In the harbor of Morrow Bay...the rock i mentioned above is from  a series of volcanos going inland.

Janet took us high in the mts...beautiful scenery and switchback roads.  in the background, right in the middle of the pic. below the blue mt. is the rock shown in above pics.

I forgot to mention my cousin Shirley Weeks, we visited her in Ventura, CA.  She is Uno Palokangas's daughter.  First time we met her.  She's 88 years old, sharp as a tack and uses her computer every day.

The flowers were not in full bloom, altho i managed to spot more blooms  in Morrow Bay than anywhere else.  This a succulent plant...the head of this plant is at least 12 to 14 inches across.

I don't know what this flower is, but it sure is beautiful!!

                                               A few Morro Bay pics....

Having Coffee in Morrow Bay with Cookie's friend Janet (formerly from Iron Mt) We had the best weather in morrow bay, warmer and sunny

We walked by the Morro Rock, which was once a volcano...and watched the waves come over the breakwaters.

HUNTING  MOON ROCKS NORTH OF MORROW BAY...LOTS OF ROCKHOUNDS THERE...MOONROCK IS A PARTICULAR TRANSLUCENT ROCK, GOOD FOR JEWELRY, THEY SAY.  WE FOUND A COUPLE OF THEM.

On Moonrock Bay..

Believe it or not, this is called "NITWIT RIDGE", built  by an eccentric old man..he kept adding strange things to his house of rock;  for instance (enlarge by clicking) notice toilets on the left, and upper left are more toilets, and on the right also is a stack of tire rims.  After he died, vandals ransacked the house, but then it was put in order and one can go on a tour of the place.  We just looked from the road.  Very interesting!

CACTUS BUDS ABOVE, AND DON'T KNOW THE NAME OF THE FLOWER ON THE BOTTOM.  WE SAW MOST OF THE FLOWERS BLOOMING IN THE MORROW BAY AREA WHERE IT WAS WARMER.

At the Piedras Blancas viewing point north of Morrow Bay.  Elephant seals as far as the eye could see.  They made such a racket with their barking, snorting and honking.  The come to this shore to give birth, eventually breed again, and when the babies are large enough, they head back to Alaska.

The males can weigh two tons or more, and their noses are so huge and long, is why they are called elephant seals.
When the babies (pups) are born, they weigh from 60 to 80 lbs., gain up to 10 lbs. a day. It was an awesome sight and sound.  I hope this video works.
